परिधान निर्यात संवर्धन परिषद (एईपीसी) के महासचिव मिथिलेश्वर ठाकुर ने कहा, '25 प्रतिशत शुल्क दर को तो उद्योग ने पहले ही स्वीकार कर लिया था, लेकिन अब अतिरिक्त 25 प्रतिशत शुल्क लगने से भारत की प्रतिस्पर्धात्मकता बांग्लादेश, वियतनाम, श्रीलंका, कंबोडिया और इंडोनेशिया जैसे देशों की तुलना में 30-31 प्रतिशत तक घट गई है। इससे भारतीय वस्त्र उद्योग अमेरिकी बाजार से लगभग बाहर हो गया है।'。
